14-01-2011 15:34
The Pompeu Fabra Universidad (UPF) and the Clinic Hospital of Barcelona (HCB) have signed a collaboration agreement, in which the two organizations establish a framework for collaboration in research into medical imaging and devices for minimally invasive procedures, as well as biomedical data management to support these techniques.
The agreement, signed by Josep Joan Moreso, rector of the UPF, and Raimón Belenes and Josep M. Piqué, chief executive and deputy director of the Clinic Hospital, respectively, establishes that the institutions will work together to develop a scientific and technical infrastructure in the field of biomedical imaging in Catalonia, to take a lead in Europe. This is an innovative type of public-private partnership with a marked international focus. It will be managed by INSIGNEO Barcelona Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Modelling, a foundation that is about to be founded with the support of the UPF, which aims to become an internationally recognized center of expertise in translational R&D+i in the field of imaging and simulation for minimally invasive medical procedures.
